Resources in Movement Presents
A 4-Day Course:

Visceral Manipulation
Level Three:
The Thorax

With Konrad J. Obermeier

Thurs Sept. 23 - Sun. Sept. 26, 2004
Holderness, NH     $450

This class will cover bony, ligamentous, muscular and visceral structures of the thorax.

Local listening as a major tool for diagnostic purpose will be used for finding restrictions in the bony frame and the visceral content of the ribcage. The basic anatomy of the thorax and its relationships to surrounding structures will be presented. Again the focus of the class will be the practical application of manipulative work.

We will establish respectful palpation of visceral structures and from there start learning  powerful manipulative techniques designed to effectively improve restrictions on the level of mobility and motility. We will specifically discuss the breathing motion and its ever repetitive effects on neck structures like the superficial and deep neck fascia, scalene muscles, upper chest aperture and the pleural dome. We will look at the clavicles and ribs with their relationships to manubrium and sternum. The pleura, lungs and mediastinum will be covered; we will introduce recoil techniques and discuss the importance of nerve plexi in their relationship to organs and the autonomic nervous system.

Class size limited to 16 and Visceral I or II is a pre-requisite. The class will take place in the Resources in Movement studio in Holderness, NH. Housing is available on site for $40 per night. You can also call or e-mail for a list of other local lodging opportunities or visit:  www.squamlakeschamber.com
